Female bladder and ovaries - image description

This illustration shows a woman’s pelvic area from the front and the position of the sex organs in the body. In the middle of the pelvic area is the womb. This is also called the uterus. The womb is a small hollow organ. At either side of the womb are two smaller oval shapes. These are the ovaries. Each ovary is connected to its side of the top of the womb by a tube. These tubes are called the fallopian tubes. At the base of the womb is a narrow opening. The tissue around this opening is called the cervix. Below the cervix is another hollow area with ridged walls. This is the vagina. The vagina connects the womb to an opening between the legs.
