Northumberland Cancer support group

Practical help and support groups

In Covid times we have been meeting by ZOOM, weekly, with various speakers and we have developed an online book club, cancer focus groups and various member facebook pages. We are a Charity established in 1986. We are independent and run by a small group of volunteers. There are many ways in which we can help our members and usually we meet on the 1st and 4th Tuesdays of the month. The first Tuesday is in the evening at 6:30 for 7pm start. This is our main speaker evening . We also have our comprehensive library open at this time and have complementary therapies available during the evening. We meet in the Education Department, Hexham General Hospital 2nd floor. On the 4th Tuesday of the month we meet in the afternoon 1pm onwards, at Hexham Trinity Methodist Church, Beaumont Street Hexham. This meeting has a mixture of speaker sessions and other activities. Complementary therapy available. In between the meetings some members meet up for days and lunches out to various places. Some activities thoughout the year include a long weekend residential at Shepherds Dene, Riding Mill at the end of September, Art Days and Courses on various topics. Members are invited to contribute ideas for events and courses they would like to do. Most of these are subsidised by the group.
