Macmillan Living Well Sessions

Practical help and support groups

Currently online sessions via MS Teams but looking to go back to face to face sessions by the end of the year. They are held at different venues throughout Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. Information about venues are available by ringing Leah Morgan. Venues are normally based in or around Shrewsbury, Telford, Church Stretton and Oswestry.

The group supports anybody affected by cancer. It is open to patients of all cancer and their loved ones, at any point in their pathway. Get the help and support you need from the comfort and safety of your own home. Currently the sessions are held online and provide information about four commonly discussed topics and concerns: fatigue, physical activity, emotional wellbeing and nutrition. These free sessions are split into two 90-minute online sessions: fatigue & physical activity and emotional wellbeing & nutrition. They discuss how to safely self-manage these four topics or if you are a carer, how you can support the person living with cancer throughout treatment and beyond. The session provides: • Self-help ideas and tips • Sharing and listening to experiences • Signposting to local support • Information and support about cancer and its side effects. We are hoping these sessions will return face to face in the future but for now, to take part, people will require: • An email address • A smartphone, tablet or laptop with a camera and microphone so we are able to see and hear the participants. The sessions use a Microsoft Teams Video Call which is free, secure and protects the participant’s privacy. Simple instructions are sent before the session and the team are happy to provide a ‘practice call’ ahead of the session.
