SCARS (Stalbridge Cancer & Recovery Support)

Practical help and support groups

SCARS are an independent, self funding peer support group that was set up in October 2014 by Tracy White herself a cancer survivor with the aim of welcoming all cancer patients, survivors, family & friends as to offer support to each other. SCARS meets at The Annex, Stalbridge Village Hall, Lower Road, Stalbridge, Dorset, DT10 2NF between 2pm - 4pm on the last Monday of each month (except December which has no meeting). SCARS are an informal group who encourage open discussion in a safe and confidential environment and ultimately we want all of our all visitors feel safe, confident and well supported and welcome at all times. As the meeting is open to and available for everyone (including visitors and non members) to enjoy a chat over a drink and cake should anyone wish to speak to Tracy White confidentially and/or alone then this can be arranged at the meeting in a quiet area or if preferred a home visit can be arranged (all home visits are made with another member to enfor all). if anyone has a particular interest and would like this to be available at the afternoon meeting then do please let us know as the Group is for you to enjoy quality time away from the stress and worry around a cancer diagnosis and we want to ensure that we can do all we can for you.At the meeting you will have the opportunity to use the different zoned areas within the Annex to enjoy a Relaxation Meditation using sound therapy, taster treatments of hand, arm, leg or foot massage as well as Reiki, Indian Head Massage and more with our Holistic Therapist, Carol Morris as well as an area set aside for Colouring Therapy for Relaxation (all supplied), other crafting i.e knitting, crochet and more as required and requested. We can also arrange for talks or other activities if you would find this helpful.
