Practical help and support groups

Macmillan Help About is a volunteering service providing practical support to people affected by cancer in South Somerset and Mendip Districts. We support carers and family members affected by cancer as well as someone with a diagnosis.

When you’re going through, or recovering from cancer treatment, practical tasks can be a challenge. The Macmillan Help About team is here to help. We can support you with practical tasks around the home and in the local community. So, if the lawn needs mowing, , you’re struggling with the housework, need a lift to an appointment or the dog needs a walk, then get in touch.

We offer:

  • Befriending
  • Bereavement support
  • Home visiting
  • Self Help & Support Groups
  • Signposting to other services
  • Volunteering activities

Catchment area:

We operate in South Somerset and Mendip Districts. To access the service you need to be registered with a GPs in or around Shepton Mallet, Castle Cary, Bruton, Wincanton and Queen Camel
