Practical help and support groups

Macmillan Help About is a volunteering service run by CCS that provides practical support to people affected by cancer in South Somerset and Mendip Districts. We support carers and family members affected by cancer as well as someone with a diagnosis.

When you’re going through, or recovering from cancer treatment, practical tasks can be a challenge. The Macmillan Help About team is here to help. We can support you with practical tasks around the home and in the local community. So, if the lawn needs mowing, you’re struggling with the housework, need a lift to an appointment or the dog needs a walk, then get in touch.

We offer:

  • Befriending
  • Bereavement support
  • Home visiting
  • Self Help & Support Groups
  • Signposting to other services
  • Volunteering activities

Catchment area:

We operate in South Somerset and Mendip Districts. To access the service you need to be registered with a GPs in or around Shepton Mallet, Castle Cary, Bruton, Wincanton and Queen Camel
