Group Therapy for people with a life threatening Illness

Practical help and support groups

A Therapy group meeting weekly, run by an experienced group therapist, for those who have been diagnosed with a life threatening illness and are seeking help with emotional difficulties. When faced with a life-threatening illness, one can feel overwhelmed, anxious, isolated. It can be hard to talk to family and friends and issues from the past may re-emerge. The group offers the opportunity to gain support through being with others with similar struggles. Over time, trust develops and that enables related issues to be explored as openly as possible. This process helps develop ones’ ability to communicate and relate more effectively, with family friends etc. outside the group. Those interested in joining will meet with the group therapist prior to entry to the group in order to explore whether it is likely to be helpful and to learn more about how the group works.
