Gastro-Intestinal Cancer Support (GICS)

Practical help and support groups

Our group meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month in the Training Rooms South at Colchester General Hospital. Meetings start at 6.30pm and finish around 8.45pm Our group supports those who have, or have had, Upper or Lower Gastro-Intestinal cancers (Oesophageal, Stomach, Pancreatic or Bowel). We aim for a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where fellow members who have personal experience of similar illness can discuss ways and means to deal with the symptoms and issues that arise during and after treatment. Medical personnel are always available to provide the benefit of their expert knowledge. A programme of speakers covering a variety of relevant topics accompanies selected meetings and members can participate in social activities outside of the regular meetings.
