Cavendish Cancer Care

Practical help and support groups

Cavendish Cancer Care provides individualised supportive care, counselling and complementary therapies for anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer. The Centre also offers a specialist service to children and young people up to the age of 18 whose lives have been affected by cancer. Following initial consultation clients will usually be offered up to four sessions of therapy tailored to suit their individual needs. On completion of the agreed therapy the client will be contacted for review to agree a next step –usually this will be discharge but if circumstances have changed then further therapy may be offered. All clients self refer to the Centre which is open Monday to Friday from 09.30 – 5.30pm. Cavendish Cancer Care also offer bereavement support.

A relaxation class is held weekly. There is a Speakers Group who are able to talk to other organisations about the work of Cavendish Cancer Care. Cavendish Cancer Buddies are a group of trained volunteers who have either had cancer themselves or cared for someone with cancer who can provide support usually by telephone.
