Practical help and support groups

The group aims to help local people and their families where there has been an exposure to asbestos and ill-health, injury or disability from asbestos related disease. Provision of support, advice and assistance is seen to be of critical importance at a most difficult time for the family and victim. DWAVSG liaises with hospital professionals and is based at the Respiratory Disease unit at Leighton Hospital in Crewe. The Group has strong links with the Chest Consultants and the Cancer Specialist Nursing team who are patrons and supporters of the Group.By focusing on the specific needs of those who suffer from asbestos related disease, the group maintains its patient focused approach, providing patients and their families with a friendly environment where they can gain information on applying for Welfare Benefits, help with mobility or care needs and get guidance from experts in the field.The Group meets bi-monthly on the first Thursday of the month. at the Macmillan Centre, Leighton Hospital, C.
