The drop-in information centre is open to anyone affected by cancer; patients, the friends or family of someone with cancer or health professionals. Visitors to the centre do not need to make an appointment however, if you would like to meet a nurse specialist at a specific time then you can arrange this by phoning the team on 0207 188 5929. If you are unable to visit the drop-in information centre you can contact the information nurses by phone on 0207 188 5929 or email DimblebyCancerCare@gstt.nhs.uk. The information team can arrange to see in-patients at Guy’s or St. Thomas’ if required, and patients can be referred by their health professional. They also have an information pod which visits ward areas and is staffed by an information nurse. How we can help: The information nurses can provide support and a listening ear to patients and carers. The team also provides information on different cancers and treatments as well as the psychological, social and financial impact of cancer. Topics we often get asked about include: work issues, benefits entitlement, treatment and side effects, diet and exercise, holiday insurance, talking to children about a cancer diagnosis, concerns about life after cancer treatment, transport – including blue badges.
Monday to Friday 9:00 – 16:00. If an information nurse is not available the centre is still open for browsing.
