Information and support centres

Aurora is a local charity dedicated to providing support for people in Bassetlaw affected by cancer and long term health conditions, including their family and friends. You don't have to be referred to Aurora by a cancer nurse specialist, GP or health care professional, you can self-refer either over the phone, via email or access our referral portal on our website. For people who are struggling with their diagnosis, health condition or feelings of anxiety, loneliness or depression, our Wellbeing Practitioners can provide a friendly listening ear. We offer emotional support and an opportunity to chat about your concerns, either face to face or over the telephone. We can create a personalised holistic care plan which may include specialised counselling, 1:1 coaching, mindfulness, befriending and bereavement support from just some of the services available. We have recently launched our unique Training, Exercise and Nutritional Support (TENS) service with tailor-made plans for each client. We focus on prehabilitation, rehabilitation and the importance and benefits of exercise and nutrition before, during and post cancer treatments. Yoga Therapy, Pilates and Tai Chi are also available through Aurora. Our wellbeing classes help to build resilience and capacity, develop bone and muscle strength, encourage circulation, improve balance and promote mindfulness. We also offer online services, resources, advice and information which can be accessed via our website:
