The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service in Hywel Dda Health Board are having to work differently during the Covid-19 outbreak and therefore have moved all of their support to the telephone. They are still able to chat with you about your cancer related questions as well as help with any concerns or advice you might need about keeping yourself safe during these challenging times. People are calling to ask about what is happening with their appointments and treatment or to find out about locally available support. The team are able to signpost to other services such as Macmillan Welfare Benefits Advice or link people up with support in their local community. The team report it has been heart-warming and humbling to hear of the amazing things that local volunteers and organisations are coming together to do such as delivering essentials like groceries and prescriptions, helping with services such as dog walking or simply checking in to chat. They are providing a much-needed listening ear and sharing tips and online links to help promote self-care and emotional wellbeing. There is no email contact at this time only by phone in case of staff changes.
