Due to Covid-19 please phone or email us to check our opening times and availability before visiting our Centre. The Jayne Garforth Macmillan Information & Support Centre in Calderdale Royal Hospital provides free and confidential information, as well as practical, financial and emotional support to people living with cancer and their families. The staff and volunteers are there when you need someone to talk to, and can help by referring you for benefits advice and applying for grants, as well as referring for Blue Badges, home adaptations and other services such as psychology, counselling and work support. The service runs three support groups – a Macmillan coffee group, a Macmillan singing group and a Macmillan Health Walk – and can direct you to other local support groups. The service also co-ordinates ‘First Steps’, an information and support session for people recently diagnosed with cancer; ‘Health and Wellbeing Events’ for people at the end of treatment and ‘Thinking Ahead’ – a programme for people living with incurable cancer, and their family members. The centre also holds a wealth of information about cancer treatment, managing side effects and local services. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up to the service’s monthly newsletter, to be kept up to date with events, courses and support groups.
