Long description of the large version of the image of the female internal sex organs
An illustration showing the internal female sex organs. It shows the two ovaries, one on either side of the womb, known as the uterus. Above each ovary is a fallopian tube, which is connected to the side of the womb. Towards the base of the womb is the cervix. The vagina extends from the cervix to the skin between a woman’s legs. The kidneys and the ureters are above the womb. The bladder and urethra are situated in front of the womb and vagina. There are also labels for the rectum, lymph nodes and lymphatic vessels and the omentum, which is a membrane which covers the organs.
