Dates for your diary

  • Make some Macmillan New Year’s resolutions – how about trying out a new role or doing a course to develop your skills?
  • Join Team Macmillan's Action Team and we’ll tell you when events are happening in your area throughout the year.

  • Student Volunteering Week takes place 10-16 February with plenty of opportunities for students to get involved in supporting our cause.
  • Macmillan’s Mammoth Quiz on 28 February is the world’s largest simultaneous quiz (we hold the Guinness World Record for it) – why not get a team together, or organise one yourself?
  • The UK Volunteer Forum’s first meeting of 2020 brings together Macmillan volunteer representatives from across the country to share their experience and help improve the Macmillan volunteer experience locally and nationally.

  • The Macmillan Challenge Events season begins – we’d love you to take part or come along and help us to put on the events themselves.

  • It’s a bumper month for marathons! We’ll be cheering, clapping and high-fiving our runners on across the UK. We’re supporting marathons in places like Brighton on 19 April, London on 26 April, Manchester on 5 April, Blackpool, Wales and Stirling – so join us on the track or on the sidelines.

  • There are now over 4,500 Macmillan Nurses so take the chance to celebrate them with us on International Nurses Day on 12 May.

  • 1-7 June is Volunteers Week, an annual celebration of our volunteers’ amazing contributions. With regional recognition events happening across the UK, look out for one happening near you.
  • Speaking of recognition events... One of the biggest dates on any Macmillan calendar is the Volunteer Awards. We will be announcing the venue and date soon. Our Volunteer Conference will be back in 2021.
  • Our Annual Report will be released, celebrating all the great things you’ve helped us to achieve.

  • We’ll be celebrating all of Macmillan’s supporters on 1 July for Thanking Day.
  • July is Pride Month and we’re proud to support everyone, irrespective of race, gender, age, and sexual orientation.

  • Our founder Douglas Macmillan was born on 10 August 1884 – so raise a glass to him!
  • We tend to have fewer events this time of year because everyone's off on their summer holidays, but why not continue volunteering while you're away. There are many flexible ways you can support us, so look at the roles we offer.

  • The Great North Run on 13 September is the largest half marathon in the world, so what better place to support us?
  • Macmillan’s flagship fundraising event, World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in September is a great way to get involved.
  • In support of World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, you can volunteer at collections at M&S stores nationwide throughout September.

  • Do you think someone has gone above and beyond? Nominate them for our Volunteer Awards 2021 so they get the recognition they deserve! Nominations run throughout October 2020.
  • Will you be a sober hero and Go Sober for October?

  • Take the opportunity to celebrate your volunteer manager on International Volunteer Managers’ Day: remember, remember, it’s the 5 November!
  • Join us at the prestigious Guildhall in London for the ever-so-festive Macmillan Winter Gala!

  • Tuesday 1 December is Giving Tuesday, a national initiative to encourage people to give to charity following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
  • Watch this space for next year’s calendar!
