Fundraising Manager, Jayne Forbes, was delighted to receive a cheque for £2,500 from the Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers (SAMW). The group raised £13,000 in total and shared this amount between five worthy causes.
The funds were raised during a charity auction at the Association’s 2015 conference and dinner and were presented to representatives of the organisations by SAMW president, Alan McNaughton, and executive manager, Ian Anderson.
'We’re delighted to have been able to distribute a record amount to five extremely valuable charities as a result of the generous contributions made by association members and guests at our annual dinner earlier this year,' said Mr McNaughton.'
'In each case, the work being done by these charities, often driven by hard-working volunteers, is crucial to the health and well-being of people throughout Scotland and we’re grateful to be able to play a small part in this.'
The other charities to benefit this year are Quarriers, The Sandpiper Trust, TCCL Lodge and Beatson Cancer Charity.
Jayne said; 'We are very grateful to everyone at SAMW. They have contributed a fantastic amount of money which will help us make a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer. We help people in many ways, from specialist nurses and doctors, to help and advice for people who have financial worries as a result of their cancer diagnosis. None of this would be possible without our supporters. 99% of our funding is from donations and quite simply, we couldn’t provide our services without support from people like SAMW.'
