Irene Knox, Chief Executive of Libraries NI & Heather Monteverde, General Manager for Macmillan NI
Macmillan is working with Libraries NI to provide information and advice for cancer patients and their families.
North Belfast has the highest incidence of cancer in Northern Ireland, which is why Libraries in North and West Belfast will be the first to get their information stands.
Heather Monteverde, General Manager of Macmillan Cancer Support in Northern Ireland, said: "Cancer patients are bombarded with information about their condition during their time in hospital. Most of them tell us they forget a lot of what they’re told within minutes of their consultation."
Irene Knox, Chief Executive of Libraries NI, said: "Libraries provide a central community hub for learning and information. Many of our users come in looking for information on health matters and, working in partnership with Macmillan, we hope to increase public awareness of the range of services available to people affected by cancer."
