Captain Neal Thornley chose to support Macmillan as one of his charities of the year to support in 2017 along with Alice Hospice.
Pictured here is Neal, his wife Angela and daughter Emily presenting the cheque to the Hartlepool Fundraising group members Derek and George.
They did a fantastic job fundraising throughout last year, from taking on the challenges of Coast to Coast, the Boxing Day Dip, sponsored walks, runs and all their social evenings at the club.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who supported them and for all their dedication to fundraising and making a huge difference to local people affected by cancer in Hartlepool.
Macmillan provides medical, emotional, financial, and practical help for people affected by cancer, from specialist cancer nurses to grants for cancer patients with money problems. We have recently seen the opening of the cancer centre a drop in centre in North Tees with Macmillan professionals supporting people affected by cancer.
Liz Airey, Macmillan Fundraising Manager “Sadly the number of people being diagnosed with cancer is increasing every year and that means Macmillan’s support for people living with cancer is in more demand than ever.
“It’s only through the fantastic support we get from local clubs that we can be there for people affected by cancer and their families when they need us most.”
