Diary of events Shropshire 2017
Whitchurch 10k Run
9th April 2017
The first Whitchurch 10k run will take place in aid of Macmillan. We are expecting 500 runners to take part. We are also running a fun run for the children to take part in. Welshampton Plant Sale
This event has taken place for over 10 years now on the first bank holiday in May, it raises over £5,000 every year for Macmillan. Winter Wonderland Ball
On Saturday 2ND June, this event The British Ironworks will be something to remember! This will be the 4th Annual ball to take place in aid of Macmillan within Shropshire. The organising committee have raised over 60,000 from this event over the past 3 years, and we are expecting this year to be the best yet. World Coracle Championships
A very well supported event by lots of county businesses, again the date is set for 2017 - Friday 15th September.Look at the new website which has been launched this year – http://coracleworldchampionship.co.uk/
Ludlow Cycling Festival
The Macmillan Ludlow Cycling Festival will take place on Sunday 24th September 2017 over 300 riders took part in the South Shropshire Tors in 2016, a tough 106km ride over the challenging South Shropshire Hills. Hawkstone Colour Run
This took place in September 2016. 1500 runner took part and again we raised a great amount of money. 2017 is going to be just as exciting with a Foam Start – just get people a little wet for that paint to stick so much better!!!!!!! Keep your eyes open for a New Telford Event which will take place in July 2017!
Whilst on the Hawkstone theme Hawkstone invited over 100 people affected by Cancer to their Santa Safari this year and we had such a wonderful evening, seeing the children’s and parents faces light up with excitement, for me the highlight of the year.
Hawk Group invited a table of Macmillan Volunteers to the Ball at Shrewsbury Football in 2016 for the Bonfire Theme Ball, The event raised over £23,000! The team at Hawk are great supporters of Macmillan and we thank them for all their generosity and support.
Over 12 wonderful Shropshire Committees have had another successful year raising awareness and a huge amount of money. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please do get in touch. We are always keen for new ideas and time from people to help us.
We also continue to welcome new Corporate Partners to support Macmillan in Shropshire.
We continue to invested money into our services in Shropshire for 2017, Our support office has seen more people in 2016 than in any previous year, and this shows how needed we are. We have new clinical Nurse specialists in post, therapist, and our GP facilitators. Our Macmillan Benefits team have secured a huge amount of money, and we have awarded grants to more and more families throughout the county. We continue to ensure that No one in Shropshire will Face Cancer Alone.

Macmillan is campaigning for a better deal for people in Shropshire affected by cancer, now and in the future. We want everyone with cancer to receive the same level of care regardless of who they are and where they live.
