Macmillan calls on the UK to ramp up the #IceBucketChallenge as 20,000 UK fundraisers join celebs such as Justin Timberlake and Mark Zuckerberg by taking the plunge!
Ahead of the warm weekend ahead, Macmillan Cancer Support nominates the entire UK to ramp up the #IceBucketChallenge. The icy charades to date have led to an incredible 20,000 donations to the charity, resulting in its most successful social text to donate campaign ever and raising enough money to fund a Macmillan nurse for a year. But it’s only just beginning…
This August, famous faces across the worlds of sport, music and entertainment are choosing to show their support for a chosen charity in a slightly more chilling way than usual. Side stepping the appeal films and charity selfies for just one moment, megastars such as Mark Zuckerberg, Justin Timberlake, Keith Urban, Manchester United teammates and many more have chosen to show their support by bracing the #IceBucketChallenge, throwing a bucket of ice water over their head before posting the film online for all to see!
And now...Macmillan needs even more people to get involved and help raise money for people affected by cancer. The challenge is simple, those taking part must film themselves dropping a bucket of freezing cold ice water over their head before sending a victory text - ICE to 70550 to donate £3 to help ensure that no one faces cancer alone – before uploading a film to social media.
The great thing about the #IceBucketChallenge? Once the challenge has been braved, the nominating rights are all yours – whether it’s a friend, family member or even a colleague, you can nominate whoever you like to complete the challenge within 24 hours. However, if it’s looking a little chilly outside, forfeiters can instead text FINE to 70550, donating £10 to give the icy dousing a miss. So what are you waiting for? Choose wisely...!
