Chief Financial Officer

Steve is responsible for Macmillan’s Finance, Legal, Procurement, Information Governance and Risk Management functions.

Steve’s strategy

Steve’s ambition is to ensure that Macmillan’s income is focused on the effective provision of services to people living with cancer. He is responsible for helping to protect Macmillan’s reputation through robust governance, assurance and compliance processes.

Career and credentials

Steve joined Macmillan as Chief Financial Officer in April 2019 and has significant international, cross-functional, Board level and Trustee experience. The majority of his career has been in IT Services but he spent the early part of his career in the Manufacturing and Retail sectors.

Steve enjoys working at the heart of the business as a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and senior leadership team and has a passion for delivering results, transforming businesses and developing high performing teams.

He has expertise in business strategy, mergers and acquisitions, managing complex customer projects and pension schemes, governance & assurance and business transformation. In addition to successfully influencing strategic direction he brings a strong operational focus to deliver business outcomes, improve financial results and liquidity.

The non-work stuff

Steve lives in central London and has a passion for Stoke City, long distance cycling and live music. He enjoys visiting his two daughters and two sons, who live around the UK. 

He’s an active charity fundraiser and volunteer participating in events that have supported Business in the Community, The Prince’s Trust, Shelter and Action for Children. He has undertaken several multiday cycling challenges in Europe – this year he’s raising funds for The Felix Project, where he volunteers, as part of a team riding across Croatia and is planning to undertake a major challenge for Macmillan in 2020.
