Nasogastric tube - image description

This diagram shows the position of a nasogastric tube, which is a thin tube that is passed up the nose, down the nasal cavity, through the gullet (oesophagus) and into the stomach. A nasogastric tube is also called an NG tube. The end of the nasogastric tube will be taped down by your nose to ensure that it doesn't move once it's been inserted.
