Kidney in the body - long description

Image shows the position of the kidneys and bladder from the front view of a person’s body. There are two kidneys one on the left and one on the right. The kidneys are at waist height.

Each kidney is about the size of a fist.  On top of each kidney there is an adrenal gland. The adrenal glands are small, about a third of the size of the kidney. Each kidney has a tube, called a ureter, coming out of it. Each ureter is about 25-30cm in length. The ureters connect the kidneys to the bladder which sits at the front of the body between the hips.
