Isolated limb perfusion (ILI) - image description

The illustration shows the legs of someone having isolated limb infusion for a tumour on the lower left leg. Surrounding the leg is a warming blanket. At the top of the left thigh there is a tourniquet. Behind the tourniquet are two tubes. The ends of the tubes are shown coming from a vein and an artery within the leg. The tubes open out to the surface of the body in the groin area, above the tourniquet. The illustration shows the flow of blood from the vein to a heater and then back into the leg via the artery. Before the heater, the illustration shows a syringe, containing drugs, that are being injected into the tube. Also shown in the illustration is a thermometer that has two probes connected to the leg.
