The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre in Harrogate
The new Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre in Harrogate opened in March 2014 and features:
- 14 garden-facing chairs for patients to receive chemotherapy
- six clinic rooms
- two dedicated rooms for counselling
- a supportive care, health and well-being area for patient advice and information.
Services offered by the centre include:
- complementary therapies
- local benefits advice
- hair loss service
- dietary advice.
It was designed with input from our Cancer Environments team, local staff, patients and their relatives to make it comfortable and tranquil throughout.
The centre replaced an older unit at Harrogate District Hospital and has significantly improved care through state-of-the-art consulting, treatment and patient support facilities as well as an excellent cancer information centre. It also delivers Macmillan’s Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) – a benchmark for cancer patient experience.
Sarah Grant, Macmillan Patient Information and Health and Well-being Manager at the centre said: 'We know from the feedback we receive from staff that it is a very positive and modern environment to provide care, and patients particularly appreciate how the layout features maintain their privacy and dignity.'
