The Macmillan Cancer Information & Support Centre at North Manchester General Hospital is a calm, relaxed, comfortable environment for anyone affected by cancer, either as a carer or someone with cancer, or anyone who wants to know more about cancer. Staffed by a Macmillan Information & Support Service Manager, an Information Assistant and trained volunteers, the centre also provides a ‘knit and natter’ session, HOPE course, Look Good Feel Better masterclasses, a cancer buddy scheme, access to benefits and finance advice and the Shaw Trust for work and employment support, a walking group, and signposting to support groups and organisations. The service is part of Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust which also include Fairfield General Hospital, Bury, The Royal Oldham Hospital, and Rochdale Infirmary and can be accessed by anyone from these areas either in person, by phone or by email.
Monday to Friday, 10.00-15.00 (except bank and public holidays) ). Outside these hours by appointment. People who are in-patients at the hospital but cannot get to the centre can request a ward visit.
