Minutes from Brighton’s pebbled beach, the Macmillan Horizon Centre has opened its doors to support people across Sussex.
From start to finish, the centre has been a real team effort between Macmillan Cancer Support, Sussex Cancer Fund and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. Also people affected by cancer helped to shape its design and the services it provides.
Supporters like you also played a huge part in helping us hit our £3.7 million fundraising appeal target needed to build the centre. And volunteers are now taking on a number of roles integral to the day-to-day running. These range from giving information and support to complementary therapy to offering hair and skin care advice.
The great thing about Sussex’s new centre is that it now offers a range of support all under one roof. This holistic approach to care includes information and support, physical activity sessions and benefits advice.
Jill, Chair of the Macmillan Horizon Centre Service Users Group, said: 'Many people affected by cancer have helped to ensure the facilities at the Macmillan Horizon Centre are just right for people on their cancer journey. Patients and carers from all over Sussex will find friendly, trained volunteers, and information, help and support in a light and airy building with spectacular views and a welcoming environment.'
