Don't miss the big event

Brought to you by Volunteer News

The terrific Macmillan Volunteer Conference and Awards 2017 is taking place on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 May in Leicestershire. The great news is that even if you aren’t attending the event in person, you’ll still be able to get involved online. Simply follow us on social media and you’ll be able to benefit from the learning and development sessions, as well as the wise words of our inspiring speakers.

The Macmillan Volunteer Conference and Awards is our annual event celebrating the enormous contribution made by volunteers like you.

Every year, some of the wonderful people who give their time to Macmillan from across the UK gather together to build relationships, learn from each other and share stories.

It’s also an opportunity for us to support our volunteers in their volunteer roles, and to thank them for everything they do for Macmillan and people affected by cancer.

Get involved online this year

This year, we’re making sure all our volunteers can benefit from the event’s fantastic learning and development opportunities through social media. To join in, simply follow us on Facebook and Twitter, then search for the hashtag #MacVolConf

As well as live updates throughout the two days, you’ll also be able to watch live Facebook videos from the event, including the keynote speeches, presentations and learning and development sessions. Our Facebook page will be full of activity as the volunteers attending will be sharing their stories and photos, and we’ll be announcing the names of our UK Volunteer Award winners there too. Be sure to visit the Volunteer Awards webpage as well to read about the previous winners and hear their inspirational stories.

What’s more, this year any volunteer can submit a question for our keynote speakers via Slido – an app for your mobile device which allows you to ask questions. Why not download the app or visit Slido’s website, enter event code 0517, then put forward your questions? You can do this before the event from 14 May or while the event is happening, be it from the auditorium or from the comfort of your home.

Get ready to make the most of Macmillan’s Volunteer Conference and Awards 2017 today by liking us on Facebook and following us on Twitter – then enter the hashtag #MacVolConf in the search bar. Remember, whether you’re there in person or you’re following all the action online, everyone’s invited.

The 2016 conference was inspiring and motivating. Listening to personal experiences from staff and volunteers really touched my heart, and it was amazing to know that people like me really do make a little difference to people with cancer.
