We answer your questions

How do I secure my own place in the London Triathlon

The official own place entry system is now open. A general entry system will run to start with, but from January to February 2014 a ballot system will be adopted for the final places. We recommend you secure your place early before the ballot opens.

Visit and secure your place today. Then sign up to join Team Macmillan.

What is a Macmillan guaranteed place?

A Macmillan guaranteed place is an entry that we have purchased directly from the race organisers. We then allocate these places to runners who haven't been able to secure their own place, in return for a pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship level.

How do I apply for a Macmillan guaranteed place?

Macmillan's Guaranteed Places are now available. To secure a place for the team triathlons we ask your team to pledge to raise a minimum of £1,000. To secure a place simply complete our form by selecting 'Sign up'.

How much do I have to raise?

If you have already secured your own place then we do not set a minimum sponsorship target for you, we just ask you to raise as much as possible. And we'll provide you with the same level of care and support that our guaranteed place runners receive.

If you're applying for one of our guaranteed place team events we ask you to raise a minimum of £1,000. This will be due in one month after the event. Of course we'll give you all the encouragement and support you need to make sure you smash that target.

What can I expect from Team Macmillan?

When you join Team Macmillan you will be supported throughout your entire Virgin Active London Triathlon experience.

In addition to our initial fundraising and training pack you'll receive when you sign up, we'll send you regular newsletters with tips to help you train, fundraise and prepare for the big day. We also have professional triathletes on hand to help give you advice. Last year Cat Morrison provided a lunchtime webchat to give lots of you advice.

And if that isn't enough, we'll give you the loudest support from our cheer points on race day. It doesn't matter what time your race starts or the weather, we can guarantee we'll be the loudest charity out there until the very last runner crosses the finish line. We don't desert you in the rain.

What if I get injured?

If you get injured while training we recommend you contact your GP or a specialist sports injury clinic. They will be able to advise you if you are fit enough to take part.;

If you do need to withdraw you will need to notify the race organisers as soon as possible. Please also let Macmillan know that you will not be taking part.

When will I get my race number?

You will receive your race magazine around 2-4 weeks before race day. You will collect your running number and timing chip on the day at registration. You will need to bring ID with you when registering.

Where do I get more information?
