How do I apply for my own place?Back to top
When your event is open, secure your own place at www.greatswim.org. You'll need to pay an entry fee and your place will then be confirmed by the event organisers. Once you have your place join Team Macmillan and we’ll send you a fundraising pack containing lots of fundraising and training advice.

Details of our 2014 Guaranteed Charity Places will be available soon.
How much sponsorship do I need to raise?Back to top
If you have your own place, we don't ask for a minimum amount of sponsorship. We just encourage and support all swimmers to raise as much as possible.
If you secure a Macmillan guaranteed charity place we ask that you aim to raise £175, but your entry fee is covered.
Whatever you raise we are extremely grateful. It will go a long way to helping people living with cancer.

If you do need to withdraw you'll need to inform the Great Swim race organisers as soon as possible. Please also let us know so that we can update our database.

What difference will my sponsorship make?Back to top
The Great Swim Series is a vital component of our fundraising campaign. The money raised from this event will go a long way to help people affected by cancer. For example:
- £14 could pay for a Macmillan benefits advisor for one hour, allowing them to provide welfare benefits and support advice to people affected by cancer.
- £91.80 could pay for a patient’s yearly prescription.
- £554 could help run a typical large Macmillan Information and Support centre for one day.
- £1,000 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for seven days, providing medical and emotional support to cancer patients and their families.
