More about Macmillan in Wiltshire
An average of nine people every day are diagnosed with cancer in Wiltshire. We need your help to ensure that all of these people receive the treatment and support they need. Macmillan Cancer Support provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support to people living with cancer, their families, friends and carers.
Without the help of our fantastic supporters, we really could not help so many local people affected by cancer. Whether you're retired or working, busy or with time to spare, you can really make a huge difference.
Macmillan Cancer Support is working in partnership with the NHS and Citizen’s Advice Bureau in Wiltshire to improve cancer treatment and care given to people with cancer and their families.
People in Wiltshire benefit from over 25 Macmillan healthcare professionals, including the wonderful Macmillan Nurses. We also have Psychologists, Dieticians, Physiotherapists and others. They help people living with cancer manage their symptoms and give much needed support wherever possible.
In addition to this, we have a Macmillan GP Advisor based at Shrivenham near Swindon, whose role is to keep other GPs in the County as up-to-date with the latest advancements in cancer diagnosis as possible.
Having cancer can bring extra costs – hospital parking and travelling expenses, extra heating or different clothes associated with weight loss and cancer treatment.
Macmillan can help. Last year we gave over £75,000 in Macmillan grants to people across Wiltshire to help with some of these costs.
We also fund two Macmillan Welfare Benefits Advisers based at the CABs in Swindon and Salisbury.
These advisers can offer specialist information to help ease financial concerns, including help with benefits, tax credits, loans and Macmillan grants. You can speak to these advisers face-to-face or over the phone, and they will help you work out what financial help you could be entitled to.
Macmillan believes no one should be financially deprived as a result of their illness.
