The team at DLA Piper celebrating their amazing total
The Leeds branch of the law firm fundraised throughout the year to raise the funds with employees enthusiastically taking part in a whole host of local runs, walks and collections for the local cancer support charity. One dedicated member of staff, Caroline Young, even took on the challenge of running to work every day during September to support the charity’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event.
A spokesperson for the company says, 'DLA Piper has enjoyed working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support during 2013. We are proud to have raised such an amazing amount and thank every member of staff that has helped contribute towards that sum. It's great to hear how the funds we have raised can help to support people in Leeds with cancer.'
Macmillan is a charity dedicated to supporting people affected by cancer through providing essential medical, emotional, practical and financial support.
Clara White, from Macmillan Cancer Support in Leeds says, 'We are so grateful to have had their support. They raised such a staggering sum and this really will make a massive difference to the lives of local cancer patients affected by cancer. In fact, they actually raised enough to fund one of our amazing cancer nurse specialists at St James’s Hospital for more than 4 months!
'Thanks to their wonderful support we are one step closer to making sure no one in Leeds should face cancer alone.'
Macmillan is funded almost completely by donations for the public. If any other companies are looking at supporting a local charity then Macmillan would love to speak to them and they can contact Clara on 07809 554960 or email email@example.com
