Local Fundraising Manager Liz Airey with the lovely staff at Town Centre Citroen
We would like to say a massive thanks to Town Centre Citroen for their fantastic support to Macmillan.
They have gone the extra mile for us, not only with their sales promotion - donating £10 per every car they sold, but they also took part in World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and raised over £1000 for Go Sober In October. They have now raised a staggering £45,830.23 for local people affected by cancer. This support means Macmillan can continue and develop more services in Sunderland to support people affected by cancer in 2015. This includes: Macmillan’s Cancer Information Support Centres; specialist nurses; counselling services; Benefits advisors, and many more medical professionals within the local area.
Fundraising Manager Liz Airey, said; ‘I would like to personally thank Chris and all the staff who have helped to raise such a fantastic amount to help people affected by cancer. 98% of Macmillan’s income is from public donations. Every day a staggering 42 people will hear the devastating news they have cancer. This means the North East population of people living with cancer nearly double between 2010 and 2030.’
Chris Sopp, Principal Dealer at Town Centre Citroen said ‘In 2011 we set ourselves a target to raise £5,000 for Macmillan, but through our car donation scheme, the generosity of our customers and the enthusiasm of our staff we are absolutely delighted to have raised such a massive amount. We intend to continue our car donation scheme & events throughout 2015 and hopefully break through the £50,000 milestone in the very near future. Macmillan is going to need to keep growing each year to make sure no one has to face cancer alone. We have plenty of opportunities to get involved with the local Macmillan fundraising team. In 2015 we’re particularly keen to work with more local businesses, whose support can make a real difference in their community.’
