Staff at IKEA in Peterborough raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support during their recent Sun Awareness Week. The staff raised money through a series of events which took place across the week.
Staff at IKEA in Peterborough had the chance to have some fun whilst also learning about the importance of sun awareness. Throughout the week staff took part in a raffle with prizes such as a hamper of sun tan lotion, perfect for the start of the holiday season. Staff also had the chance to dress down with a summer holiday theme of course. Hawaiian shirts and leis were spotted throughout the office.
Not only was the week a great chance to have some fun and raise money it also opened up channels of communication between the staff. Paula Cade, from IKEA, said 'It was an absolute pleasure to support Macmillan during Sun Awareness Week and also encouraging our co-workers to protect their skin from the sun. We did this through providing co-workers with their own individual information packs with literature from the Macmillan website which proved very informative as well as a raffle to win sun creams, hats and sunglasses. This encouraged many people to talk openly about the signs of skin cancer. We had lots of fun dressing up in our favourite summer outfits during a very rare heat wave in the UK!'
