Go Green Week, this summer, saw a number of branches take part in a variety of ‘green’ activities to raise money for Ridgeons’ chosen charity Macmillan Cancer Support. The week was a huge success, which raised over £4,000, including an amazing £1,614 contributed by our Saffron Walden branch.
During Go Green Week it was fantastic to see so many branches taking part. Some of the fundraising highlights included hair shaving, green hair dye, an exercise bike challenge, a guess the baby competition, plus raffle prizes and of course the obligatory cake sale.
Macmillan Cancer Support is a leading national charity which provides support, advice and specialist healthcare to those affected by cancer. Ridgeons has pledged to support Macmillan as the business’ chosen charity until the end of 2017.
Director Gordon Ridgeon, said: 'In addition to the great efforts during Go Green Week, the Ridgeon Group has kicked off the 2015 charity campaign with a quiz night which raised nearly £1000. And, with the continued enthusiasm and efforts of the entire team, Ridgeons has raised just shy of £7,000 to date, which could pay for a Macmillan Grant for 40 people that helps a person living with cancer heat their home when they really need to.
'The money raised so far has laid the foundations for the £20,000 Ridgeons has pledged to raise for Macmillan Cancer Support over the next two years. In addition, many Ridgeons branches will be taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, taking place on Friday 25th September in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and we hope all our staff and customer will get behind us to help achieve our target.'
