Rewarding, friendly, invaluable, awesome. Just four of the ways people have summed up volunteering with Macmillan. But to put it into words how much our volunteers mean to the people affected by cancer, is a little trickier.
It’s the smile on someone’s face when you’ve done a few odd jobs for them. It’s the reassuring chat in our information centre. It’s the power your signature on our campaign has. It’s all you do to help us make sure no one faces cancer alone.
Because whether you’ve got five minutes, a few hours, or a couple of days each month, the time you give Macmillan in Buckinghamshire will really matter.

More about Macmillan in Buckinghamshire
An average of ten people every day are diagnosed with cancer in Buckinghamshire. We need your help to ensure that all of these people receive the treatment and support they need.
Macmillan Cancer Support provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support to people living with cancer, their families, friends and carers.
Without the help of our fantastic supporters, we really couldn’t help so many local people affected by cancer. Whether you're retired or working, busy or with time to spare, you can really make a huge difference.
People in Buckinghamshire benefit from over 82 Macmillan healthcare professionals, including our Clinical Nurse Specialists in areas including skin cancer, prostate cancer and end of life care, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Dental Hygienists. They help people manage their symptoms and aim to make living with cancer easier.
Having cancer can bring extra costs – hospital parking and travelling expenses, extra heating or different clothes associated with weight loss and cancer treatment.
Macmillan grants can help. Macmillan Cancer Support helped a record number of people in urgent financial need during 2014, with 345 Buckinghamshire cancer patients receiving a Macmillan grant to help them with costs arising from their treatment. Patients in Buckinghamshire received over £56,000 for vital essentials such as heating bills, clothing and transport costs, as well as practical household items like washing machines – an 18.6% increase on 2013.
Macmillan believes no one should be financially deprived as a result of their illness.
Having the right information about cancer at the right time is essential.
The Macmillan Support Line 0808 808 00 00, is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm, providing free information and emotional support for people living with cancer.
