Sarah Mackellar during her 96 mile trek.
Macmillan would like to thank Sarah Mackellar for raising £710 last April by walking from Glasgow to Fort William.
Sarah told us about her challenge and the inspiration behind her journey, 'Walking 96 miles through Scotland over two weeks was the hardest thing I've ever done. It was tough to keep going through the rain and the wind, but the thought of all that money I raised going to a good cause kept me motivated.
'My grandad died from cancer in 2012, and Macmillan nurses looked after him when he was ill. I just wanted to help make sure someone else’s grandad or loved one had the same care and treatment mine did.
'Bad knees, a dodgy back and blisters galore meant fighting through tears and pain for my two week challenge. But if the money I raised gives someone else that little bit of hope, it'll have been worth it.'
If Sarah's trek has inspired you to lace up your own walking boots, why not get involved in one of Macmillan's walks or hikes.
