Local recruitment company 1st Choice have selected Macmillan Cancer Support as their chosen charity.
1st Choice Recruitment will be working with Macmillan Cancer Support to raise funds for people affected by cancer. All of the company’s four branches in Bedford, Milton Keynes, Biggleswade and Huntingdon, will be taking part in various fundraising activities. To kick start the fundraising they will be collecting in branches and holding dress down days each month.
Gill Knight, CEO at 1st Choice said, 'Macmillan is a cause that is close to all of our hearts at 1st Choice for one reason or another. We all believe in supporting such a worthwhile cause that gives some comfort and support to people and their families facing the frightening journey that cancer forces upon them. The more we can all do the better.'
Julia Beales, Fundraising Manager for Bedfordshire, said 'We are delighted that 1st Choice Recruitment have decided to support Macmillan. The number of people diagnosed with cancer in the UK is expected to double to four million by 2030. We receive not government funding and simply cannot continue to support everyone who needs us without the support of local companies like 1st Choice.
'The money raised by this exciting partnership will help to fund vital cancer services for people living with cancer and their families. That includes Macmillan nurses who provide medical and emotional support for patients throughout treatment in hospitals, hospices and in the community. Money is also a huge worry for many people diagnosed with cancer so we can also provide financial support through our special Macmillan grants and Welfare Rights Services. Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face and Macmillan are there to help every step of the way.'
