Big Dave's Little Stroll
This summer Dunstable's Dave Redmond will be walking from John O'Groats to Lands End in aid of Macmillan.
Covering more than 1000 miles wasn't enough of a challenge for Big Dave though, so he'll also be carrying his own kit and sleeping tent throughout his journey without the aid of a support team.
Dave's set himself some more rules for his challenge too, "No cars, buses, boats, trains or planes. No riding of donkeys or any other livestock. No hitching a lift on a passing cyclist's handlebars, and no nicking some kids' skateboard or rollerblades either."
Big Dave readily admits he's hardly your typical long distance trekker, "I'm a 6ft tall, 24 stone, 31 year old criminal barrister. It's fair to say I’ve become a bit squidgy round the edges in recent years, but I’m determined to do something that makes a difference. And that's my inspiration for this crazy challenge."
Big Dave begin his little stroll on 30 June and all funds raised will be equally split between three charities close to his heart: MS Society, Help for Heroes and Macmillan Cancer Support.
