September 2008

Hi

We’re just days away from our biggest fundraising event of 2008 – The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. With your help we’re aiming to raise £8.5 million this year to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

We’ve also got lots of other fun ways you can get involved with Macmillan and help make a difference. Join our hike through remote mountain trails to the Lost City of the Incas, challenge yourself with a running event, or join our campaign against fuel poverty.

Help create a huge stir for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Girls enjoying their coffee morningJoin us on Friday 26 September and help make the 2008 World’s Biggest Coffee Morning our biggest and best yet! This year we're aiming to raise £8.5 million to help support more people living with cancer.

It's as easy as putting the kettle on... Simply get friends, family or colleagues together, anywhere you like, and ask them to make a donation for the coffee they drink and the cake they eat.

Register to take part now, or if you’re already holding a coffee morning, why not send e-invites to family and friends. If you can’t hold your own coffee morning there are lots of other ways to get involved. You could find a public coffee morning near you, or create a huge stir and decide who makes the coffee in your office by playing our online game at makemecoffee.com.

Campaign against fuel poverty

A person affected by fuel poverty at homeMacmillan is launching a campaign later this year to ensure that people with cancer are not caused undue stress about how to pay their fuel bills.

When undergoing cancer treatment it is important that a person with cancer stays warm and comfortable to help keep infection at bay.

‘When you're well you don't think twice about turning off the heating for a couple of hours to save money. When you're ill that's not an option.’
