Video clips

The activity sheets on this site and the Cancertalk materials can be used as stand-alone resources to help educate children and young people about cancer issues. You may want to enhance the impact of your activity by showing clips from the Cancertalk videos, ‘Jenny’s Diary’ and ‘Living with cancer.’ Both videos include real demonstrations of how the video can be used in class.

Jenny’s Diary is a four-part children’s drama showing how a family deals with the dad having cancer. Jenny is a lively, bright 11 year old girl whose dad has cancer. Over the course of the drama, her mum and dad help her to understand what is happening to her dad and the effect it is having on their family. In the last scene, Jenny meets some school friends and together they resolve to do something positive to help people with cancer.

Living with cancer consists of four case studies showing young people who have been affected by cancer. They openly discuss their cancer experience and major issues such as loss/bereavement. The interviewees are all real people, not actors. They want to help young people understand what it is like to experience cancer, how they have dealt with it and how everyone, whether directly affected or not, can offer help and support.

These videos are part of the free primary and secondary Cancertalk packs. To order a pack, please see our Contact Us form.

You can download short sample clips from each of the videos from this page.
