Ciarán Devane is moving on
After seven years at the helm, he will be joining the British Council as Chief Executive in January 2015.
Ciarán joined Macmillan in May 2007 and since then has made a huge contribution towards us reaching our ambition of improving the lives of everyone affected by cancer. He has worked tirelessly to put survivorship at the heart of what we do and has helped Macmillan undergo a remarkable transformation.
During his tenure, annual fundraising income has doubled and cancer services have expanded helping to provide information and support to 5.2 million people affected by cancer in 2013.
Ciarán has led the charity to be at the forefront of cancer care research, groundbreaking redesign projects and campaigns to improve cancer survivorship. He has also overseen the charity’s strategy overhaul and rebrand, securing Macmillan’s position as the most trusted and loved charity in the UK.
Whilst we are extremely sad to see Ciarán go, Macmillan has never been in a better position. As the changes we have made in the past and the programmes we are working on now continue to deliver, we will be able to do even more for people affected by cancer.
