Responding to the Government’s comments on energy tariffs, Laura Keely, Campaigns Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said:
“We welcome the simplification of energy tariffs as a priority for the energy reforms but this must be undertaken in consultation with energy companies, consumer groups and charities.
“We know the range of different tariffs on offer can be very confusing for consumers. It is important prices are transparent so people are able to find the tariff that’s right for them.
“Last year 42% of people given a Macmillan grant needed it to help with their energy bills. Being on the right tariff is absolutely vital to ensure vulnerable cancer patients can keep warm without the worry.”
