Macmillan is proud to be a living wage employer. This week the living wage increased to £9.15 in London and £7.85 everywhere else.
The living wage is an important initiative because it sets an hourly rate that guarantees people in work will be able to pay their essential expenses like heating, eating and rent, and participate in society.
Paying the living wage helps people affected by cancer. Macmillan’s own research shows that financial stress is one of the biggest worries people affected by cancer face. By ensuring our own workforce is guaranteed to be paid a living wage, we go some way to alleviating that stress for the more than one in three of us affected by cancer.
