11 February 2014
On Friday 16 May 2014, something exciting is happening. You don't have to run or get sweaty. Just get together with the people you love to raise money for Macmillan.
Macmillan's Night In is simply about spending time with friends, having a laugh and something to eat and drink. It’s a sweat-free, sponsor-free and hassle-free way to ensure no one faces cancer alone. Everyone just gives what they’d have spent on a night out.
As a host you can keep it as simple as you like. You might like to entertain with cocktails, cheese and wine or encourage guests to bring a dish. Alternatively it could be the chance to try a creative pursuit such as making cupcakes, knitting or why not invite guests to do a three-minute ‘how to’ on any subject - as useful or silly as they like? To add to the excitement you could even invite a professional along to administer pampering treatments? The possibilities are endless!
To sign up to host an event and get your Night In Kit visit www.macmillan.org.uk/nightin Then just get the word out to your friends about your get together. Why not set up a JustGiving page and invite your friends to it online? That way all the fundraising is done before they even set foot in the door!
The event launched last year and 30,000 participants managed to raise a phenomenal £1.25m, along with corporate sponsor, female car insurance company Sheilas’ Wheels.
Macmillan Cancer Support has put together a faultless formula for hosting Night In – and best of all, it’ll help people keep on living life during and after they have cancer.
