Our partnership with Monarch

Since our partnership began 27 years ago, Monarch has raised a fantastic £4.5 million to help support people affected by cancer.

This incredible amount has been made possible by the generosity of its millions of customers and the dedicated support of its thousands of employees.

Monarch has raised money through on-board customer collections and employee fundraising, including support of World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. In addition, Monarch offers further support to Macmillan through gifts in kind, donating free flights and providing advertising space in their in-flight magazine.

May 2013 saw the launch of the Monarch Foundation, which aims to focus the company’s charitable engagement in a number of areas, including ’improving the lives of people affected by cancer’. The foundation enables the support for Macmillan to be extended to other areas of Monarch, providing opportunities for further engagement amongst their employees.

In 2014, Monarch donated £50,000 to the Lister Macmillan Cancer Centre, in Stevenage Hertfordshire. This centre, funded jointly by Macmillan and the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, has doubled the chemotherapy capacity of the hospital’s previous unit. Following the success of the Lister Macmillan Centre, Monarch have kindly donated £50,000 to the East Surrey Macmillan Centre at Redhill Hospital. Through this donation, Monarch, along with Macmillan and the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, have helped make it possible to provide high-quality emotional support and complementary therapies to people living with cancer.
