How we work with corporate partners

Macmillan works in partnership with private sector organisations in communities across the UK to deliver outstanding mutually-beneficial partnerships. We are experienced at working with companies to maximise the impact for people affected by cancer, and ensure business benefits for our partners.

Fundraising

We have a calendar of established fundraising events that are fun and are great team-builders. Take your pick from our much-loved flagship fundraiser World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Brave the Shave and Go Sober for October, to name a few. Macmillan also prides itself on a fantastic variety of UK and international challenge events – from trekking, to running and cycling, there is something for everyone.

However you want to work with us, we can provide you with the expert support in generating ideas, planning your fundraising calendar, and delivering it to motivate and engage employees.

Volunteering

Our dedicated Corporate Volunteering Team creates tailor-made volunteering roles that suit Macmillan, your organisation and your employees. In 2015, we experienced a huge 80% increase in the number of corporate volunteers who gave their time. We work hard to ensure we are offering the best roles and providing a fulfilling experience.

Over the past five years, we have developed our volunteering portfolio and we work in collaboration with different teams across Macmillan to identify need and opportunities. From providing one-to-one support to people affected by cancer to supporting our amazing runners at challenge events, we can offer the role that is right for you.

Together we can inspire your employees to join the Macmillan team as volunteers, giving their time, skills, energy and experience to ensure no one faces cancer alone.

  • Macmillan is a national charity with a range of local volunteering opportunities.
  • Our team will review the organisational goals and skills of your staff to identify possible bespoke opportunities for your employees.
  • We will provide event case studies, role descriptions and volunteer insight for you to use in your internal and CSR publications.
  • Macmillan is likely to resonate with your colleagues – leading to an increase in your company’s engagement figures.

'By offering a range of volunteering opportunities, including supporting people in the community and using our telephony experience to thank people for fundraising Macmillan has enabled our employees to volunteer in a way that suits their skills and the time they have to give.'

Commercial opportunities

Voted as Marketing Society Brand of the Year in 2014, the Macmillan brand offers incredible commercial opportunities including securing PR and reaching new audiences through cause-related marketing, and sponsorship of events.

If you are looking to increase sales or benefit from association with the UK’s top charity brand (YouGov Charity Index 2013-2015), we will work together to ensure that any venture is innovative, exciting and mutually beneficial.

For an example, see our case study on M&S and their sponsorship of World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Driving change

As a Macmillan corporate partner you can help deliver change by bringing new services to local communities, whether that is by funding a new post or implementing a new initiative that helps people affected by cancer in their everyday lives.

You can also signpost customers and staff to our cancer information, training and support services.

The value in terms of reinforcement of your brand and company values is enormous. We would be delighted to discuss creating a bespoke partnership with you which meets joint, strategic goals.

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is a simple, tax-effective way for an employee to give to Macmillan directly from their pay cheque.

Setting up and running a scheme is quick and easy, and successful schemes are recognised by the coveted Payroll Giving Quality Mark Awards.

If you’re thinking of introducing Payroll Giving for your organisation then please email our team at payrollgiving@macmillan.org.uk or call us on 0207 840 4842. For more information or to sign up please visit our Payroll Giving page.

Other ways to get involved

There are other ways to get involved too, including signing up for our Macmillan at Work programme, which provides resources and training to help support your employees who are affected by cancer.

If you would like to discuss these or any other potential opportunities, please get in touch at corporate@macmillan.org.uk, giving your name, contact details and company name. We would be delighted to hear from you.
