Richard Taylor

Executive Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications

Richard joined Macmillan in October 2015. He is responsible for leading our fundraising, marketing and communication activities. There’s a lot going on, from our award-winning brand campaigns to ensuring issues important to people affected by cancer stay forefront in the media and public mind. Not forgetting the amazing fundraising campaigns such as Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning.

He began his career in retail, working in operations for high street retailers like Boots, Burton and the Early Learning Centre where he was the UK and Europe’s Stores Director. Richard joined Imperial Cancer Research Fund in 1998 and was heavily involved in the merger which created Cancer Research UK in 2002. As Fundraising and Marketing Director he oversaw dramatic growth in fundraising from £200m to £500m, a successful rebrand in 2012 and the launch of Stand up to Cancer in partnership with Channel 4.

Richard was delighted to join Macmillan and be part of what he believes to be the most ambitious health charity in the UK grappling with one of the nation’s biggest health related issues. He is keen to draw on his experience and expertise to help Macmillan continue to raise awareness of the key issues and vital funds to help ensure no one faces cancer alone.

Having worked in the charity sector for over 17 years Richard is passionate about the industry. He is currently chair of the Institute of Fundraising, the professional membership body for UK Fundraising, and was previously chair of The Neuro Foundation for three years.
