John Pearson

Executive Director of Cancer Support Operations

John joined Macmillan in February 2016 as Executive Director of Cancer Support Operations. He is responsible for our dedicated Cancer Support teams across the four UK nations. Together they ensure Macmillan delivers the best and most joined up service possible, regardless of how, why and when people access our support. John also helps influence external policy and the design and delivery of UK services to ensure cancer care and support services are relevant for the needs of people affected by cancer.

John joins us after three and a half years working at the Royal Voluntary Service, where he was most recently Chief Operating Officer, responsible for helping the organisation develop and implement a corporate strategy and structure. He began his career in the private sector working in a variety of industries including oil, telecommunications and banking. He worked predominantly in consumer-facing positions where it is was his responsibility to ensure the organisation understood the needs of the customer, and met these needs through delivery.

John and his wife are passionate supporters of Macmillan, combining their love of sport and travel with raising money for Macmillan. Through running marathons, to climbing Kilimanjaro, they have raised an amazing £100,000 for us to date. We’re delighted to have him on board using his extensive experience in meeting the needs of customers and his passion for our work.
