David Salisbury

Evidence Engagement Lead

Dave Salisbury has been our Evidence Engagement Lead since October 2015. He is passionate about using evidence to create change, and is currently leading work to ensure the better use of evidence to develop and deliver services and underpin Macmillan’s influencing agendas. The Evidence Engagement team work to help Macmillan’s Evidence department ensure research, data analysis, insight pieces and evaluations are brought together to form bodies of evidence around issues that are easily digestible to Macmillan staff and our partners.

Dave joined Macmillan in 2012 and has a background in research and evaluation. Since joining Macmillan, Dave has played a central role in integrating a culture of evaluation within our services, as well as working to commission and manage a number of large scale and complex evaluations. In his role as evaluation and impact lead, Dave worked to increase capacity with regard to Evidence and Evaluation, expanding the team to include new evidence officer posts based in geographic areas and reporting into the central function.

Prior to working at Macmillan, Dave worked for research and evaluation consultancy GHK (now ICF) where he specialised in working with the third sector and approaches to economic evaluation of social programmes. During his time in consultancy, Dave worked on a variety of projects in the policy areas of health and children, young people and families. He delivered projects for a range of clients including the European Commission, Department for Education, NICE, Big Lottery Fund, Barnardo’s and other third sector organisations.

Dave has a passion for sports and in his spare time coaches basketball in south London.
